PUBLIC HEARING <br />WEED ABATEMENT <br /> <br />abatement. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened the <br />public hearing on the <br />Street Superintendent's <br />Report for costs of weed <br /> <br />The City Manager stated that he had nothing to add to the written <br />report of the Director of Public Works dated August 1, 1973, <br />recommending approval of Resolution 73-92. <br /> <br />There were no written communications; there were no proponents, <br />and no opponents; and the Mayor closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 73-92 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA HEARING AND RULING OF <br />OBJECTIONS TO WEED ABATEMENT REPORT OF DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC WORKS, APPROVING REPORT AND ORDERING A COPY <br />THEREOF FILED WITH THE TAX COLLECTOR <br /> <br />was adopted on motion of Councilman Evans, seconded by Council- <br />man Yamamoto and carried unanimously on a 6 - 0 vote. (CA 11) <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />STREET VACATION - PARTON <br />BETWEEN WALNUT AND PINE <br /> <br />Walnut and pine Streets. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened the <br />public hearing on the <br />proposed street vacation <br />of Parton Street between <br /> <br />The Assistant Director of Public Works referred to his report <br />dated July 6, 1973, in which it was stated that Santa Ana High <br />School has for some time occupied the right of way; that no <br />permanent building structures had been erected within the <br />right of way; that the school had requested the abandonment for <br />construction purposes; that the City would reserve a 31 foot <br />strip down the center for existing water and gas lines and a <br />new storm drain line. <br /> <br />There were no written communications; there were no proponents <br />and no opponents; and the Mayor closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 73-87 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ORDERING THE~ <br />VACATION OF A PORTION OF PARTON STREET BETWEEN <br />WALNUT STREET AND PINE STREET <br /> <br />was adopted on motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Council- <br />man Ward and carried on a 5 - 1 vote, with Councilman Markel <br />dissenting. <br /> <br />Prior to voting, Councilman Markel stated that he would vote no <br />because it appeared to him that the applicant had not followed <br />proper procedure. <br /> <br />Councilman Ward's motion, seconded by Councilman Yamamoto, that <br />staff work with the School District and correspond with the <br />School Board regarding parking and safety features around <br />Santa Ana High School in an effort to develop a solution to <br />the parking problem, carried unanimously, on a 6 0 vote. <br />(CA 14; CA 38) <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />295 AUGUST 6, 1973 <br /> <br /> <br />
