RECESS At 4:26 P.M. Council <br /> recessed to Executive <br /> Session to consider <br /> appointments to boards <br />and commissions. At $:10 P.M. the meeting was reconvened with <br />the same Councilmen present, and immediately recessed to 7:50 <br />P.M., at which time Council reconvened with the same Councilmen <br />present. <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />(CA 9.10) <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance <br />was conducted by members <br />of Girl Scout Troop 586, <br />Martin Elementary School. <br /> <br />INVOCATION <br />(CA 80.17) <br /> <br />The invocation was given <br />by the Reverend Wilbur <br />Parry, Jr., Camile <br />Christian Church. <br /> <br />SPECIAL PRESENTATION The Reverend Galal Gough <br />RECOGNITION OF COMMUNITY SERVICE was presented with a <br /> Certificate of Appreciation <br /> plaque for his outstanding <br />service to the community as Chairman and member of the Human <br />Relations Commission. (CA 131.2) <br /> <br />COMNFONITY SPOTLIGHT The Vice Mayor acknowledged <br />AMERICAN RED CROSS the American Red Cross, <br />ORANGE COUNTY CHAPTER Orange County Chapter, who <br /> had been invited to give <br />a presentation, and introduced Melvin Cohen. <br /> <br />Mr. Cohen gave a brief outline of the history, organization and <br />administration of the Red Cross, described some of its many <br />valuable volunteer services to the community, including the <br />blood bank program, invited Council to visit Orange County <br />facilities, and introduced several members of the Board of <br />Directors of the Orange County Chapter. (CA 9.3) <br /> <br />1972-73 ANNUAL REPORT Zeke Hernandez, Chairman, <br />HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION presented to Council the <br /> 1972-73 Annual Report of <br /> the Human Relations <br />Commission, and introduced the following members of the <br />Commission, who reported on the achievements and objectives <br />for their respective committees: (CA 131.1) <br /> <br />Rudy Moreno, 1972-73 Chairman Youth and Education Committee; <br />1973-74 Chairman Community Information and Rumor Control <br />Committee; <br /> <br />Pat McGuigan, representing the Health and Welfare Committee; <br /> <br />Gene Wasson, Chairman Housing and Urban Development Committee; <br /> <br />Jack McFarland, new Chairman, Youth and Education Committee. <br /> <br />APPEAL NO. 321 <br />ALLAN FAINBARG <br /> <br />The Vice Mayor opened <br />the public hearing on <br />Appeal No. 321, filed by <br />Allan Fainbarg, appealing <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 330 SEPTEMBER 4, 1973 <br /> <br /> <br />
