Councilman Griset's motion to underline Council's concern <br />about the over all plan for industrial properties in the <br />City, including mini-warehousing development, and to refer <br />the matter to the Planning Commission for recommendation <br />to Council, was seconded by Councilman Markel and carried <br />unanimously on a 6 0 vote. <br /> <br />During discussion prior to the vote, the general consensus <br />of Council was that a staff study of industrial land uses <br />would be preferable to an outside study. At the same time, <br />Council acknowledged the problems of staff in completing <br />the studies already in process, and the need for a Council <br />determination of priorities, and agreed by informal consent <br />to continue consideration of the recommendationfor outside <br />consultant to its next regular meeting, pending additional <br />information from the Planning Commission and Planning <br />Director. <br /> <br />SUb~ARY OF On motion,of Councilman <br />COUNCIL REFERRALS Yamamoto, seconded by <br /> Councilman Ward, and <br /> unanimously carried on <br />a 6 - 0 vote, Council received and filed the Summary of Council <br />Referrals dated September 4, 1973, and instructed staff to <br />present to Council at its regular meeting on September 17, <br />1973, a capsule summary of the progress of each referral item, <br />including estimated time required for completion. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION In response to Councilman <br />SISTER CITY REQUEST Yamamoto's suggestion that <br />KORIYAMA, JAPAN Council consider the <br /> request of representatives <br />of Koriyama, Japan, for a Sister City affiliation.(Council <br />Minutes, August 20, 1973), Councilman Ward's motion to instruct <br />staff to contact City service organizations, including Japanese <br />American Citizens League, Lions, Rotary, Kiwanis, Chamber of <br />Commerce, and City Center Association, to ascertain whether <br />they are interested in pursuing the development of a sister <br />city relationship with Koriyama, Japan, seconded by Councilman <br />Yamamoto, carried unanimously on a 6 0 vote. (CA 67) <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION Vice Mayor Evans objected <br />LETTER FROM to a letter from the <br />ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT Administrative Assistant <br /> dated August 30, 1973, <br />in reply to a citizen complaint addressed to Council regarding <br />the Public Information Officer position authorized by Council <br />on August 6, 1973. His objections were that correspondence <br />expressing the opinion of Council should properly be from the <br />Mayor, not the Administrative Assistant, and that the letter did <br />not reflect Councilman Evans' opinion as an individual Council <br />member.
