RES. 73-105 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY <br />DESIGNATING COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />CITY DEPOSITORY SANTA ANA DESIGNATING BANK <br /> OF TOKYO AS THE DEPOSITORY <br />FOR CITY OF SANTA ANA FUNDS EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1974, AND <br />DESIGNATING SIGNATURES AUTHORIZED FOR THE PURPOSE OF WITHDRAWAL <br />OF SAID FUNDS was adopted on motion of Councilman Yamamoto, <br />seconded by Councilman Griset, and carried unanimously on a 6 - 0 <br />vote. (CA 65) <br /> <br />RES. 73-106 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY <br />VACATION - EAST COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SIDE OF HATHAWAY SANTA ANA DECLARING <br /> INTENTION TO VACATE <br />ALLEY ON EAST SIDE OF HATHAWAY; RESERVING AN EASEMENT THEREIN <br />FOR THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AND GIVING NOTICE OF HEARING THEREON <br />was adopted on motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Council- <br />man Garthe, and carried unanimously on a 6 0 vote. (CA 14) <br /> <br />RES. 73-107 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY <br />INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RELATIONS WEEK SANTA ANA PROCLAIMING <br /> INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS <br />WEEK was adopted on motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by <br />Councilman Yamamoto, and carried unanimously on a 6 - 0 vote. <br /> <br />Councilman Markel suggested that service clubs be contacted <br />and urged to participate in International Relations Week programs. <br />Vice Mayor Evans and Councilman Ward concurred. (CA 151) <br /> <br />SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA <br />RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT <br /> <br />support of Senate Bill <br />for the development of <br />Rapid Transit District <br /> <br />Council considered the <br />letter from State Senator <br />Lawrence E. Walsh dated <br />August 15, 1973, requesting <br />1275 which would remove the responsibility <br />rapid transit from the Southern California <br />to a new transportation district governed <br /> <br />by a commission to be elected by the people. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Yamamoto, <br />and carried on a 5 1 vote, with Councilman Markel voting NO, <br />Council opposed Senate Bill 1275 and authorized the Mayor to <br />draft a letter for Council approval outlining its reasons for <br />opposition to the bill, to be mailed to representatives of the <br />Orange County area, the Governor, Orange County Board of Super- <br />visors, Orange County Transit District, Chamber of Commerce, and <br />other appropriate City organizations. <br /> <br />Council reasons for opposing the bill included: Diminished local <br />control; additional or new agency involved at State level; ques- <br />tion of local representation; no assurance that there would be <br />any advantages to Orange County. (CA S7; CA 84) <br /> <br />RECESS <br /> <br />At 3:35 P.M. a recess was <br />declared.
