COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT <br />ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF SANTA ANA <br /> <br />presentation. <br /> <br />The Mayor acknowledged <br />the Assistance League of <br />Santa Aha who had been <br />invited to give a <br /> <br />Mrs. Joseph Long, President of Assistance League of Santa Ana, <br />gave a brief statement regarding the history and purpose of <br />the organization. She introduced Mrs. Howard A. Rapp, Jr., who <br />enumerated the philanthropic activities of Assistance League <br />within the City. (CA 9.3) <br /> <br />SWEARING IN CEREMONY <br /> <br />The following members of <br />boards and commissions <br />were sworn in by the Clerk <br />of the Council: <br /> <br />Barbara Gaughran, appointed to the Board of Recreation <br />and Parks; (CA 52.2) <br /> <br />Alexander Nalle, appointed to the Community Redevelopment <br />Commission; (CA 82.1) <br /> <br />Irene Phillips, appointed to the Personnel Board; (CA S0.8) <br /> <br />Lewis Whitehead, appointed to the Project Area Committee. <br />(CA 82.3) <br /> <br />"MISS TEENAGE ORANGE The Mayor announced that <br />COUNTY '74" "Miss Teenage Orange <br /> County '74", Belinda Kay <br /> Garrison, who had been <br />invited to the meeting, was not present, however, he did have <br />a letter and a "Key to the City" to be given to the Mayor of <br />Memphis by her when she visited that city for competition in <br />the "Miss Teenage America" Pageant. (CA 151.8) <br /> <br />RIVERVIEW GOLF The Mayor announced that <br />TOURNAMENT the first City of Santa <br /> Ana Golf Championship <br /> had been held at River- <br />view Golf Course, 1800 West 22nd Street, and requested Council- <br />man Garthe, who had been present at the tournament, to aid <br />in the presentation. <br /> <br />Jerry Wisz, winner of the tournament, was presented with the <br />Mayor's Trophy. <br /> <br />Councilman Garthe introduced Boyd Martin, winner of the "B" <br />Flight, and Dave Trongale, "C" Flight. The winner of the "A" <br />Flight, Harold Jones, was not present. <br /> <br />EXPO '74 Jerry Griffiths, a repre- <br /> sentative of Hughes Air <br /> West, presented a model <br /> of a Hughes Air West <br />airplane and a tie tack to the Mayor, and a lapel pin to each <br />of the Councilmen, and announced the opening of Expo '74, in <br />Spokane, Washington, in May, 1974 and running through October, <br />1974.
