(CA 13.1) <br /> <br />PERSONNEL BOARD The resignation of John E. <br /> Ford from the Personnel <br /> Board, contained in his <br /> letter dated September 6, <br />1973, was accepted with regret on motion of Councilman Griset, <br />seconded by Councilman Evans, and unanimously carried. (CA 50.8) <br /> <br />BUS LINE PATRONAGE After discussion, Council <br /> approved in principle the <br /> proposals for encouraging <br /> bus patronage set forth <br />in the letter from the Orange County Transit District, dated <br />August 29, 1973, and referred the proposals to staff for a report <br />to be considered by Council at a study session, on motion of <br />Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Ward, and unanimously <br />carried. (CA 84) <br /> <br />BICYCLE LANE Council considered the <br />ROSS BETWEEN WALNUT petition presented <br />AND 17TH September 12, 1973, <br /> signed by 249 residents <br />requesting that the parking on Ross Street, between 17th Street <br />and Walnut Street be prohibited, and that the parking lane be <br />designated a bicycle lane for bicycle traffic north and south. <br /> <br />The petition was referred to the Planning Commission and staff <br />for inclusion in discussions relating to bike trails on motion <br />of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Evans, and unani- <br />mously carried. (CA 18.6) <br /> <br />SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA After considering the <br />RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT report of the Assistant <br />PROPOSED SB 1275 City Manager, dated <br /> September 11, 1973, attach- <br />ing a draft of a letter from the Mayor to State Senator Laurence <br />E. Walsh regarding proposed Senate Bill 1275, Council authorized <br />the Mayor to re-draft the letter by informal unanimous consent. <br /> <br />Senate Bill 1275 would remove the responsibility for the development <br />of rapid transit from the Southern California Rapid Transit Dis- <br />trict to a new transportation district governed by a commission <br />to be elected by the people.
