<br />'. . <br />. <br /> <br />The Contractor is responsible for protecting the paint during the drying period and is <br />required to wet sandblast out all objectionable tracking and paint marks. <br /> <br />All legends shall match existing legends unless otherwise noted. <br /> <br />2.02 <br /> <br />SPRAY ABLE THERMOPLASTIC (THIN MIL) <br /> <br />Sprayable thermoplastic traffic stripes and pavement markings shall conform to the <br />provisions in Sections 84-1, "General," and 84-2, "Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes and <br />Pavement Markings," of the Caltrans Standard Specifications and these special <br />provIsIons. <br /> <br />The State Specification No. for glass beads in Section 84-2.02, "Materials", "of the <br />Standard Specifications is amended to read "Federal Spec M2-47 (Type II)." Glass beads <br />shall be premixed within the thermoplastic material and again, applied immediately after <br />spraYIng. <br /> <br />Sprayable thermoplastic material shall conform to the requirements of the Department of <br />Transportation Specification No. PTH 392A, for Thermoplastic traffic Striping Material, <br />Sprayable, White and Yellow. The binder material shall be Alkyd. Copies of <br />Department of Transportation Specification for sprayable thermoplastic material are <br />available at the Transportation Laboratory, Sacramento, California, and will be fumished <br />to interested persons upon request. <br /> <br />Sprayable thermoplastic material for traffic stripes and markings shall be applied by <br />spray method in single uniform layer at the minimum thickness of 30 mils and not to <br />exceed 45 mils. <br /> <br />Sprayable thermoplastic material shall be applied to the pavement at a temperature <br />benveen 350°F and 400°F., unless the manufacturer recommends a different temperature. <br /> <br />2.03 <br /> <br />RAISED PAVEMENT MARKERS (RPMs) <br /> <br />Raised pavements markers shall conform to Section 85, "Pavement Markers," of the <br />Caltrans Standard Specifications and these Special Provisions. Reflective pavement <br />markers shall have abrasion-resistant surfaces. <br /> <br />Hot-melt bituminous adhesive shall be used for placement of pavement markers. The <br />adhesive shall be an asphaltic material with homogeneously mixed filler. Install <br />reflective raised pavement markers in accordance with applicable sections of the State of <br />California Standard Specifications and City of Santa Ana Standard Plan Nos. 1125A, <br />1125B and 1125C. <br /> <br />8 <br />
