Council elected to act separately on each of the 25 positions <br />recommended for addition to the budget on the unanimously <br />approved motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Councilman <br />Evans. <br /> <br />The City Manager stated that four of the 25 positions, the <br />Abatement Officer, the Executive Director for Redevelopment, <br />the Public Information Officer and one Typist Clerk for the <br />Police Department Traffic Division had been previously authorized <br />but that no funds had been appropriated at the time of authoriza- <br />tion. <br /> <br />The following new position was authorized on motion of <br />Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Evans, and unanimously <br />carried: <br /> <br />Account No. 11-115; Clerk of the Council; 1 Typist Clerk I. <br /> <br />The following new position was authorized on motion of <br />Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Ward, and carried <br />with Councilmen Markel, Garthe and Evans dissenting: <br /> <br />Account No. t1-141; Personnel Department; 1 Affirmative Action <br />Coordinator. <br /> <br />The following new position was authorized on motion of <br />Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Yamamoto, and carried <br />with Councilmen Evans, Markel and Ward dissenting: <br /> <br />Account No. 11-221; Bowers Museum; 1 Museum Aide. <br /> <br />A motion by Councilman Griset, seconded by Mayor Patterson to <br />authorize the following position was defeated, with Councilmen <br />Ward, Evans, Garthe and Markel voting "No", and Councilmen <br />Griset, Yamamoto and Mayor Patterson voting "Yes't: <br /> <br />Account No. 11-329; Fire Department, Equipment Maintenance; <br />1 Mechanics Helper. <br /> <br />Councilman Garthe's motion to reconsider the matter, seconded <br />by Councilman Griset, carried with Councilmen Ward, Evans and <br />Markel dissenting. <br /> <br />Councilman Garthe's motion, seconded by Councilman Griset, <br />to authorize the above-described position, Mechanics Helper, <br />carried with Councilmen Ward, Evans and Markel dissenting. <br /> <br />The following new positions were authorized on motion of <br />Councilman Yamamoto, seconded by Councilman Ward, and unani- <br />mously carried: <br /> <br />Account No. 11-333; Police Department, Traffic; 6 Patrolman <br />(Motor Officers). <br /> <br />The following new position was authorized on motion of <br />Councilman Griset, seconded by Mayor Patterson and carried <br />with Councilman Evans dissenting: <br /> <br />Account No. 11-340; Police Department, General Investigation; <br />1 Typist Clerk I. <br /> <br />The following new positions were authorized on motion of <br />Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Ward, and unanimously <br />carried: <br /> <br />Account No. 11-343; Police Department, Technical Services; <br />6 Complaint Desk Officers. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />23 JANUARY 7, 1974 <br /> <br /> <br />
