The Mayor closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 74-20, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA RESTRICTING PARKING ON CERTAIN AREAS OF ROSS <br />STREET (BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7:00 A.M. TO 9:00 A.M. AND 2:00 <br />P.M. AND 6:00 P.M.) was adopted on motion of Councilman Ward, <br />seconded by Councilman Yamamoto, on the following roll call <br />vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Ward, Yamamoto, Markel, Garthe, Evans, Griset <br /> <br />NOES: Patterson <br /> <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Mayor Patterson had stated during the discussion that ke favored <br />prohibiting on-street parking from 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Council approved the establishment, by proper signing and <br />striping of marked bicycle lanes on Ross Street between Seven- <br />teenth Street and Civic Center Drive and between Fourth and First <br />Streets, on the unanimously approved motion of Councilman Ward, <br />seconded by Councilman Yamamoto. (CA 18.6) <br /> <br />BOWERS MUSEUM Council considered <br />RENOVATION the memorandum dated <br /> January 29, 1974, from <br /> the Museum Director, <br />describing the proposed remodeling of the existing Museum <br />structure and plans for merging of the old and new structures. <br />Acting on the recommendation submitted, it was moved by <br />Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Evans, and unanimously <br />carried to: <br /> <br />1) Authorize closure of the Museum to the public <br /> February 4, 1974 through March 4, 1974, inclusive; <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />Accept gifts and conditions involving capital <br />improvements from the Bowers Memorial Museum <br />Foundation; <br /> <br />Approve plans for the renovation of the original <br />building for an estimated cost of approximately <br />$40,000 to be provided from City/County Revenue <br />Sharing Funds. (CA 85) <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION Councilman Garthe sug- <br />GREENBELT AREA gested that consideration <br /> be given to the idea of <br /> adding to the Greenbelt <br />Area by covering drainage ditches (particularly the one commenc- <br />ing on Warner at Flower and extending to Sunflower), with some <br />type of prefabricated slab to be covered with dirt and used as <br />a bike trail, with proper landscaping and removal of the fences. <br />He pointed out that the drainage ditch is presently a hazard to <br />children; and that possibly the Flood Control District would <br />share in the cost of such a project. <br /> <br />The Mayor requested staff to explore the possibilities of the <br />suggestion and to report its findings and recommendation, with <br />unanimous informal concurrence of the Council.
