The staff was instructed to prepare letters'to the City's repre- <br />sentatives in the State Legislature requesting enactment of <br />legislation to allow local option with regard to definition <br />of obscenity; and to transmit copies of the letters to all <br />Orange County cities and the County requesting similar action <br />by their legislative boards, on motion of Councilman Griset, <br />seconded by Councilman Garthe and carried, with Councilman <br />Ward and Mayor Patterson dissenting. <br /> <br />Councilman Yamamoto's letter to the Council dated March 4, 1974, <br />requesting consideration of the preparation of an ordinance that <br />would effectively eliminate pornographic newspapers was received <br />and discussed by Council prior to the motions. During the dis- <br />cussion on the matter. Mr. Billy C. Hall, Executive Director <br />of the Santa Ana City Center Association, suggested prohibiting <br />the sale of all newspapers on the public streets. (CA 153.7; <br />CA 153) <br /> <br />PUBLIC EMPLOYER-EMPLOYEE Resolution No. 5208 of <br />RELATIONS LEGISLATION the City of Buena Park <br /> opposing employer-employee <br /> relations legislation was <br />referred to staff for report and recommendation on the unani- <br />mously approved motion of Councilman Evans, seconded by Mayor <br />Patterson. (CA 50) <br /> <br />RECREATION AND PARKS The letter of resignation <br />BOARD RESIGNATION from the Recreation and <br />LOIS L. MAC KAY Parks Board, dated <br /> February 20, 1974, from <br />Mrs. Lois L. MacKay to Mr. Glen Evans, Chairman of the Board, <br />was received and accepted with regret, on the unanimously <br />approved motion of Councilman Evans, seconded by Councilman <br />Griset. (CA 52.2) <br /> <br />LOCAL BUS SERVICE Resolution 8205 of the <br /> City of Newport Beach <br /> urging the Orange <br /> County Transit District <br />to establish a localized passenger collection service to <br />augment an intercity rapid or mass transit system in Orange <br />County and requesting cities in Orange County to support that <br />position, was referred to staff for report and recommendation <br />on the unanimously approved motion of Councilman Evans, <br />seconded by Councilman Griset. (CA 112.2; CA 84) <br /> <br />SHOWMOBILE USAGE The request by the <br />OUTSIDE CITY Orange County Girl <br /> Scouts Association <br /> for use of the City- <br />owned Showmobile at the Convention Center in Anaheim on <br />April 20, 1974, was unanimously approved on motion of <br />Councilman Evans, seconded by Councilman Griset, in accordance <br />with the written recommendation of the Recreation Superinten- <br />dent, dated March 6, 1974.
