On motion of Councilman Ward, seconded by Councilman Griset, <br />the Mayor was requested to write a letter of appreciation to <br />the Board of Supervisors. (CA 145.5) <br /> <br />RESIGNATION The letter dated March <br />HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION 25, 1974, from Mr. John <br />JOHN E. MARTIN E. Martin, submitting <br /> his resignation as a <br />member of the Human Relations Commission was accepted with <br />regret on motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman <br />Evans. (CA 131.2) <br /> <br />BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS The memorandum dated <br />BI-ANNUAL ATTENDANCE REPORTS March 28, 1974 from <br /> Clerk of the Council <br /> with attached attendance <br />reports from Boards and Commissions was received and ordered <br />filed, and the Mayor was directed to write a letter Cwtth <br />carbon copies to each Council member) to the members of the <br />Boards and Commissions indicating the importance of attendance <br />at meetings, to encourage each member to attend regularly, and <br />to continue to keep a record of absences and tardiness, and <br />report to. (CA 80.9) <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION The Planning Commission <br />ANNUAL REPORT, 1972-73 Annual Report for 1972- <br /> 73 was received and <br /> ordered filed on motion <br />Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Evans, and unani- <br />mously carried. (CA 78.1b) <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />MINORITY EMPLOYMENT The report d~ted <br />POLICE & FIRE DEPARTMENTS March 28, 1974, from the <br /> City Manager on the class <br /> action lawsuit filed <br />by the League of United Latin American Citizens, National <br />Association for the Advancement of Colored People, et al, <br />alleging discrimination in the hiring practices of Police <br />and Fire Departments and seeking a court order to increase <br />the number of Blacks and Mexicans in those departments, <br />including statistical data relative to patrolmen and firemen <br />recruitment, news articles, and a copy of the lawsuit, were <br />received and ordered filed on motion of Councilman Griset, <br />seconded by Councilman Evans, and unanimously carried. (CA 139) <br /> <br />REMOVAL OF PARKING The report dated <br />17TH STREET AT March 26, 1974 from <br />SANTA ANA COLLEGE the Director of Public <br /> Works recommending a <br />prohibition of parking along the south side of Seventeenth <br />Street, adjacent to Santa Aha College, necessitated during <br />the construction period of the forthcoming widening project, <br />for a "trial" period to determine the full impact of this <br />parking restriction upon the operation of the College, was <br />received and ordered filed on motion of Councilman Griset, <br />seconded by Councilman Evans, with dissenting vote by Council- <br />man Evans.
