To date, 2,500 women have been helped by <br />the Center and many have entered professional fields because <br />of the educational opportunity and proper care for their chil- <br />dren. Kelley, <br /> 4609 Maurte Avenue, from <br />the revocation by the Chief of Police of kef temporary Taxi <br />Driver's Permit to operate a taxicab in the City, was opened <br />by Mayor Patterson. <br /> <br />The Council .received copies of the letters submitted <br />Patricia Kelley and Fern Lauderdale and tke report from tke <br />Police Department. <br /> <br />Miss Kelley spoke in behalf of her appeal, stating that she now <br />belonged to Alcoholics Anonymous; that the association had <br />changed her life; and that it is very important to her to have <br />the Permit reinstated because she enjoys her job. <br /> <br />There were no other proponents or opponents and the Mayor closed <br />the hearing. <br /> <br />Council granted the appeal and instructed the Chief of Police <br />to re-issue the Taxi Operator's Permit to Patricia E. Kelley, <br />on Councilman Markel's motion, seconded by Mayor Patterson <br />and carried, with Councilmen Griset and Yamamoto dissenting. <br />(CA 26.3) <br /> <br />TRAFFIC SIGNAL A petition, containing <br />INTERSECTION OF 419 signatures, request ing <br />WARNER AVENUE & HALLADAY installation of a traffic <br /> signal at the intersec- <br />tion of Warner and Halladay, and a reduc%ion of the speed limit <br />to 25 miles per hour on Halladay between Warner and Dyer Road, <br />was considered by Council, together with a report from the <br />Director of Public Works, dated May 1, 1974, which included <br />the 1974 Traffic Signal Priority List.
