To ensure lively streets, the <br />following design guidelines are recommended: <br /> <br />· Discourage general public access from parking structures <br />directly to buildings to encourage pedestrian traffic on the street. <br /> <br />· Stairs and elevators serving parking structures be located with <br />direct access onto street sidewalk; preferably, stairs should be <br />located at or as near as possible to the intersection of two <br />streets. <br /> <br />· Shops front directly onto Tenth, Eleventh, and Washington <br />Streets. <br /> <br />· Where possible, retail should also be located on major <br />north/south streets; if only one entrance is to be provided, it <br />should be off the side streets (East/West), with the exception of <br />Washington Street. <br /> <br />· No parking structures shall front on Main Street. <br /> <br />~~\!. <br />w <br />a: <br />o <br />=n~ <br />~ ~B <br />e <br />~ r::==i <br />irl~ <br />~ c:::=1 <br />..
