<br />r <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />DECEMBER 20, 2004 <br /> <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE FIREMEN'S <br />BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION <br /> <br />"'''1 <br /> <br />t2H2~ <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />D As Recommended <br />D As Amended <br />D Ordinance on 1s1 Reading <br />D Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />D Implementing Resolution <br />D Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare, and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with the Firemen's Benevolent <br />Association (FBA) regarding wages, hours and other terms and conditions of <br />employment. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The City and the Firemen's Benevolent Association (FBA) recently completed <br />contract negotiations, resulting in a new, four-year agreement, since the <br />previous Memorandum of Understanding expired on June 30, 2004. <br /> <br />Key elements of this Agreement include: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />A four-year term, from July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2008. <br />Salary Increase: July 1, 2004 = 0% <br /> July 1, 2005 = 0% <br /> July 1, 2006 = Up to 4.5% (Based on formula) <br /> July 1, 2007 = Up to 4.5% (Based on formula) <br /> <br />2 . <br /> <br />3. Medical Premium Contributions: Effective January 1, 2005 = Maintain <br />Kaiser California CalPERS HMO rates, during the term of the agreement. <br /> <br />4. Dental Premium Contributions: Jul y 1, 2004 = $70/month ( current rate) <br /> July 1, 2005 = $70/month <br /> January 1, 2006 = $80/month <br /> January 1, 2007 = Reopener <br /> January 1, 2008 = Reopener <br /> <br />25F-1 <br />
