Mrs. <br />Schwarz stated that new books are distributed to children to <br />keep as their own, that expansion of their program depends on <br />money through public funding; and that they eventually hope <br />to cover all the schools in the area. Gene Moriarty, Chair- <br /> man of the City's Bicenten- <br /> nial Committee, filed a <br /> written report covering <br />events commencing April 4 through July 15, 1974, regarding the <br />Committee's activities. He stated that approximately 174 City <br />organizations had been invited to help expand the Committee <br />membership; that the Committee had adopted tRe geritage Square <br />concept as one of its projects; that a "Meet the A~e~lcans" <br />Program was in the formation stage to show Santa Aha to Euro~ <br />peans; that over 2,000 projects are under review by, the Committee~ <br />that two other meaningful projects are scheduled for adoption not <br />later than next September; and that the City's Bicentennial <br />Committee telephone number is 835-1776. <br /> <br />Each Councilman was presented with a small Bennington Flag, <br />which is reputed to be the first American Flag, p~e-~datlng the <br />Betsy Ross Flag.
