<br />RESOLUTION 2005 -002 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXECUTION OF A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH <br />KABOOM, A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, <br />FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF <br />PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AT SANTA ANITA PARK <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, <br />determines and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The City of Santa Ana has been selected to receive a grant from <br />Kaboom, a non-profit organization, in the amount of $47,000.00 to design and <br />construct playground equipment at Santa Anita Park. <br /> <br />B. Kaboom is a national non-profit organization that joins together <br />individuals, organizations and businesses for the purpose of building community <br />partnership to construct safe and accessible playgrounds. <br /> <br />C. City staff has collaborated with the Santa Anita neighborhood to <br />implement this program. The neighborhood will be involved in planning meetings <br />and has committed volunteers for the project. A corporate funding sponsor will <br />provide $47,000.00 and volunteers to help construct the playground area. <br /> <br />D. Children from the Santa Anita Neighborhood will assist in the project <br />by participating in "Design Day", an event at which they will be given an <br />opportunity to design and draw the types of playground equipment they would <br />like to see at the Park. <br /> <br />E. Kaboom will provide staff to assist in community organization, <br />community fund raising, and community participation in the design and <br />construction of the playground. <br /> <br />F. The Kaboom grant funding and community effort will initiate the Santa <br />Anita Park playground equipment improvements. Matching funds in the amount <br />of $10,000.00 are required of the City in order to participate in this program.
