<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 7, 2005 <br />TITLE: <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />WITH THE SERVICE EMPLOYEES' <br />INTERNATIONAL UNION, CHAPTER <br />1939, LOCAL 347, AFL-CIO. <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />D As Recommended <br />D As Amended <br />D Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />0 Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />0 Implementing Resolution <br />D Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />¥ <br /> <br />~, <br /> <br />CIT MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare, and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the <br />Service Employees' International Union, Local 347, AFL-CIO, regarding <br />wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The City and the Service Employees' International Union (SEIU), Local 347, <br />AFL-CIO, recently completed contract negotiations, resulting in a four-year <br />Memorandum of Understanding. This new Memorandum of Understanding will <br />expire on June 30, 2008. <br /> <br />Key new negotiated elements of this Memorandum of Understanding include: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Term: A four-year term, from July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2008. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Salary Increase: July 1, 2004 = 0% <br /> July 1, 2005 = 0% <br /> July 1, 2006 = Up to 4.5% with a minimum increase <br /> of 3.5% <br /> July 1, 2007 = Up to 4.5% with a minimum increase <br /> of 3.5% <br /> <br />3 . <br /> <br />Medical Contributions: <br /> <br />Effective February 1, 2005 and for the <br />remainder of the agreement, the City's medical <br />contribution will be equal to the CalPERS <br />Other Southern California monthly Health <br />Maintenance Organization (HMO) rates for <br />Kaiser Permanente. <br /> <br />25F-1 <br />
