Councilman Yamamoto recommended the same treatment as on 17th <br />Street east of Grand Avenue; he expressed concern for over- <br />ruling the wishes of 100% of the businessmen on 17th Street. <br /> <br />Councilman Garthe moved and Mayor Evans seconded to delete <br />the plan for a median on 17th Street and to instruct the <br />staff to initiate and proceed to install a median similar to <br />that at 17th and Bristol. <br /> <br />Councilman Ward stated that the General Plan also includes <br />the Scenic Corridor Element and that the esthetic values <br />of the City should be considered. <br /> <br />The vote on the motion was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Garthe, Evans, Markel <br /> <br />NOES: Griset, Ward, Yamamoto, Bricken <br /> <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Councilman Bricken stated that he felt that it was primarily <br />a design problem and that some attempt should be made to work <br />it out. <br /> <br />Councilman Griset moved to adopt Plan C, seconded by Council- <br />man Yamamoto. <br /> <br />Mr. Dick Marshall, 2507 East Santa Clara, brought pictures of <br />other City medians to.show what they do not want.
