He <br />stated that Santa Ana had submitted its application in three <br />thematic areas; Heritage ?6, Festival U.S.A. and Horizon ?6; <br />that the Heritage ?6 project is Heritage Square, which is <br />in progress; that the Festival U.S.A. will include exchange <br />of foreign citizens with Santa Ana citizens to experience <br />life in other countries; and the writing and production of <br />an original play based on Santa Ana history; that Horizon <br />76 will include programs implemented by the various schools <br />in Santa Ana, as well as the Santa Ana History Room in the <br />library. <br /> <br />He said that the biggest project is the Waffle House, and <br />that an application for Federal funding of $108,000 had <br />been made; that if the application was approved, it would <br />require matching funds from the City, but that labor of <br />equivalent value can be substituted for funds; and that the <br />outcome of that application should be known by October 1975. <br /> <br />Mr. Rhodes said that the visit of the Freedom Train to Ana- <br />heim is being supported by the Santa Ana Bicentennial Commit- <br />tee because it will provide a nearby location for Santa Ana <br />residents to visit; the charge will be $2 per person. The <br />concurrence with the Anaheim location was reached only after <br />it w~$ determined that Santa Ana did not have available <br />track space with adjacent parking and rest room facilities <br />to meet the requirements of the train. <br /> <br />He added that Air California Recognition Day is the newest <br />project.
