They are based on the project description and are consistent .' <br />with the set of conceptual plans ånd profiles of the LPA. <br /> <br />The fOllowing Table 1 summarizes the capital costs of the Locally Preferred <br />, Altemative by major category that was submitted to FTA in the New Starts <br />submittal. The total estimated capital cost of the LPA in 1999 dollars is $1.49 , <br />billion, for a system from Santa Ana Regional Transportation 'Center to Irvine <br />Transportation Center. If the system is extended to the University of California, <br />Irvine (UGl) and Santa Ana College (SAC), then the cost of the LPA plus <br />extensions increases to $1.74 billion in 1999 dollars. <br />
