CA 65B <br /> <br />PARAMEDIC SERVICES The City Council <br />COMMUNITY HOSPITAL unanimously recom- <br /> mended that the <br /> Santa Ana-Tustin <br />Community Hospital be designated as a base hospital and <br />primary paramedic training facility by the Orange County <br />Health Department on the motion of Councilman Ward, <br />seconded by Councilman Brandt. <br /> <br />The proposal of the Santa Ana-Tustin Community Hospital to <br />provide one paramedic unit for a period of one.year to <br />serve a specific area of Santa Aha with paramedic services <br />was referred to staff for investigation and report on the <br />unanimously [7-0) carried motion of Councilman Yamamoto, <br />seconded by Councilman Ortiz. <br /> <br />Mr. Wayne D. Schroeder, Executive Director of the Santa Ana- <br />Tustin Community Hospital, told the Council that the hospital <br />would like to begin a pilot project to provide one paramedic <br />unit; that the hospital operating as a non-profit facility <br />would be able to.provide this service at the lowest possible <br />cost which could be,recovered by minimal user charges; that <br />the hospital offers~the..largest Emergency Room Service in <br />the County, as well as backup services; an additional service <br />included in the proposal of the hospital islto send an <br />intensive care nurse along in the unit so that treatment <br />can begin without having to transmit information back and <br />forth by radio to the base hospital; and the hospital is <br />also well-equipped and would do all billing related to these <br />services, CA 64.1 <br /> <br />YOUNG ADULT PROJECT, INC. The May 29, 1975 <br />REVEREND CARLOS ABERNATHY staff report evaluating <br /> the request of Carlos <br /> Abernathy that the <br />City provide facilities for a youth counseling service, was <br />received and filed; and Item #195 of the Council Referral <br />Summary was deleted, on the unanimously (7-0) carried motion <br />of Councilman Brandt, seconded by Councilman Evans. <br /> <br />The Reverend Abernathy stated that his program was under <br />consideration by the County; that it is designed to provide <br />counseling, by,professionally trained ceunselors, to youth <br />regarding minority problems, school related problems and <br />Criminal Justice problems, using the City's key park <br />facilities. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />234 JUNE 2, 1975 <br /> <br /> <br />
