Councilman Brandt stated that he supports Crime Prevention <br />Program and regrets that some areas will possibly suffer. He <br />listed his concerns as access to the City (would like to widen <br />Bristol Street), the proliferation of multiple family dwell- <br />ings, and traffic signalization. <br /> <br />Mayor Garthe listed his concerns as inter-communication among <br />departments, parking surrounding the Civic Center, construc- <br />tion of the County Administration Building, widening of Flower <br />Street, apartment development north of Civic Center Drive from <br />Flower to Ross up to Washington, the involvement of communi- <br />ties in the Community Development planning process as soon as <br />possible, and credibility of Councilmen and department person- <br />nel. <br /> <br />Councilman 0rtiz stated that he supports the Crime Abatement <br />Program; that a safe City (Police and Fire) takes precedence <br />over all else. He listed his concerns as work programs for <br />juveniles, improved community communications, improved rela- <br />tions with the business community as well as the organizations <br />and churches. He stated his opinion that the people in the <br />City can solve its problems without the need for outsiders. <br /> <br />Councilman Yamamoto listed his concerns as recreation for youth <br />Oust as important as Police expansion), improved communica- <br />tions within the community through more effective use of the <br />Community Centers, improvement of the roads, streets, and curbs <br />in the west part of Santa Ana, to the standard enjoyed by the <br />rest of the City, and increased Council participation at the <br />Community Centers. <br /> <br />Councilman Brandt expressed his personal philosophy on inter- <br />governmental concerns, stating that a concentrated effort <br />should be made to communicate the City's needs to other elected <br />officials in the State and Federal governments. He added that <br />he would like to see a legislative digest implemented by the <br />City. <br /> <br />Councilman Bricken stated that he would like to see the Transpor- <br />tation Element to the General Plan and the establishment of a <br />Transportation Department or function to concentrate on that <br />subject in the City.
