Councilman Bricken stated that the record should indicate <br />that his vote of approval, at this time, is in support of <br />the Amphitheatre only. <br /> <br />Extensive presentation of the proposal had been made to <br />the Redevelopment Agency on June 11, 1975. <br /> <br />Mr. Tom Moon, 2604 East Washington, Orange, spoke on behalf <br />of the Orange County Cultural Center, Inc., in opposition <br />to the plan; he wished to make the Council aware of the <br />progress of his organization that has acquired a 52 year <br />lease for 4½ acres of property in "The City" shopping cen- <br />ter complex, in Orange, from the Tishman organization to <br />construct a 3,000-seat music center and a small 800-seat <br />summer theatre for the performing arts; that the project <br />has the approval of the Board of Supervisors; that he doesn't <br />feel the County could support two theaters 1½ miles apart; <br />and that the cultural center site has convenient freeway <br />access. <br /> <br />Mr. Billy C. Hall, City Center Association, asked whether <br />the Orange County Cultural Center continues to have the <br />support of the rest of the cities of the County now that <br />a site has been selected; that the City of Santa Ana, as <br />the County seat, may now be a more acceptable location to <br />the other cities in the County. <br /> <br />Mr. Moon responded stating that the Association had held <br />two benefit concerts that were 95% sold out, and that their <br />membership roll has been increasing steadily. <br /> <br />Councilman Yamamoto stated that he did not support the <br />motion because he felt that Mr. Kresky had not shown his <br />ability to develop such a project, and that the City should <br />proceed with caution in such matters. <br /> <br />CA 52.8A <br /> <br />RECESS - EXECUTIVE SESSION At 4:17 p.m. the <br /> Mayor recessed to <br /> Executive Session <br /> to consider personnel <br />matters; the meeting was reconvened at 5:25 p.m., at which <br />time the meeting was recessed for dinner at Mr. Mike's; <br />the evening session reconvened at 7:'30 p.m. with all Coun- <br />cilmen present. <br /> <br />INVOCATION Following the Pledge <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE of Allegiance to the <br /> Flag, given by Boy <br /> Scout Troop No. 165, <br />under the leadership of Mr. Don Herpy, Pastor Jack Watkins <br />of Santa Ana Foursquare Church gave the invocation. <br /> <br />CA 9.10 <br />CA 80.17 <br /> <br />SPECIAL VALOR AWARD A special valor <br />GARRY DURHAM award was presented <br /> to Santa Aha resident, <br /> Garry Durham, by Coun- <br />cilman Brandt for saving the lives of 18 month old Danny <br />Williams and four year old Randy Williams.
