RECESS <br /> <br />at 8:40 P.M. <br /> <br />At 8:30 P.M., Mayor <br />Garthe declared a <br />recess, and the <br />meeting reconvened <br /> <br />During the course of the meeting the following items were <br />removed from the Budget for further consideration: <br /> <br />Item Amount <br /> <br />Cumulative Amount <br /> In or Out <br /> of Balance <br /> <br />1. Retain Bookmobile service ( S0,000) 59,7S0 <br /> <br />The Mayor asked if there were any comments or questions from <br />the audience. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Mr. Mark Mulkerin, <br />PROPOSED BUDGET 2105 North Eastside, <br /> expressed his support <br /> for the Crime Abate- <br />ment Program and the Paramedic services, and the need for <br />additional taxes to support them; he suggested that (1) <br />the removal of the $50 per month automobile allowance for <br />Councilmen would save $4,300; [2) the elimination of salaries <br />for the Human Relations Commissioners, Redevelopment Commis- <br />sioners, Personnel Board members, Board of Recreation and <br />Parks members, and the Planning Commissioners would save <br />$12,500; that a savings of $54,000 would reduce 1 cent of the <br />proposed property tax increase; that these reductions would <br />show the community that the Council is willing to make <br />direct personal sacrifices in order to retain the essential <br />services of the City. <br /> <br />Mrs. Ann Pamalaro, (no address given), stated that she had <br />contacted 100 taxpayers, 50 of whom did not know that there <br />was a proposed tax increase; that the balance of 70 felt <br />that the police issue was very important~ and that other <br />things would have to go to eliminate a tax increase; that <br />President Ford had seen fit to give tax rebates to taxpayers <br />and she doesn't feel it should be taken by the City. <br /> <br />Mrs. Dorothy Smith of the League of Women Voters expressed <br />the League's interest in providing as much library service <br />as possible for the citizens of the City. <br /> <br />Former Councilman, J.
