Prior to the motion, Police Chief Raymond Davis, quoting from <br />his report on the subject dated March 19, 1976, stated that <br />the Police Department will average 1 - 2 police officer <br />vacancies per month; that the Team Policing Program since <br />December 1, 1975 has effected a sixteen per cent reduction <br />in burglary and twelve per cent reduction in major crimes; <br />that this is a critical staffing period because of community <br />meetings on the Program; and the need to keep officers in <br />their own Team Policing areas. CA 50 <br /> <br />BICENTENNIAL OLYMPICS Council authorized the <br />USE OF CITY EMBLEMS issuance of sixteen City <br />AUTHORIZED Seal Emblems to be sewn <br /> on T-shirts to be worn by <br />the City's contestants in the "Almost Anything Goes" <br />Bicentennial Olympics scheduled at Huntington Beach High <br />School Stadium on Saturday, March 27, on the unanimously <br />approved motion (7:0) of Councilman Ward, seconded by <br />Councilman Evans. The request for the emblems came from <br />Gene Moriarty, Chairman of the Santa Aha Bicentennial <br />Commission, in his letter dated March 17, 1976. <br /> <br />CA 80.12 <br /> <br />SCAG COMMITTEES Council approved the <br />APPOINTMENTS reappointment of the <br />APPROVED following Councilmen to <br /> the Southern California <br />Association of Governments Committees, on the unanimously <br />approved motion (7:0) of Councilman Ward, seconded by <br />Councilman Evans: <br /> <br />Transportation ~ Utilities - David Brandt Delegate, <br />James Ward Alternate; <br /> <br />Community & Economic Development - Vernon Evans <br /> <br />Environmental Quality & Resource Conservation <br />Gordon Bricken <br /> <br />Human Services - Harry Yamamoto <br /> <br />Resolutions - Vernon Evans <br /> <br />CA 80.1 <br />CA 141 <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />by Councilman Ward. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at <br />6:40 P.M. on the unanimously <br />approved (7:0) motion of <br />Councilman Evans, seconded <br /> <br />FLORENCE L MALON~ <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />120 MARCH 23, 1976 <br /> <br /> <br />
