<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />HOUSING AUTHORITY <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br />JULY 25,1978 <br /> <br />REPORT OF SECRETARY <br />OF 143 ADDITIONAL <br />SECTION 8 HOUSING <br />UNITS APPROVED BY <br />RECEIVED AND FILED <br /> <br />A report dated <br />June 19,1978, pre- <br />pared by Edward L. <br />Flores advising that <br />the U.S. Department of <br />Housing and Urban Develop- <br />ment (HUD) had notified the City of its approval of an Annual <br />Contributions Contract with the Authority in the amount of <br />$502,920 for a total of 143 additional units of existing housing <br />under the Section 8 Rental Subsidy Program, was received and <br />filed on the unanimously carried motion 6:0 of Commissioner <br />Garthe seconded by Commissioner Bricken. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />PROMISSORY NOTE <br />FOR HOUSING REHABILITATION <br />LOAN PROGRAM <br />EXECUTIVE AUTHORIZED <br /> <br />As recommended in the <br />report dated June 14, <br />1978, prepared by Edward <br />L. Flores, the Authority <br />approved a Promissory <br />Note to the United <br />California Bank in the amount of $200,000 for the Housing Rehabi- <br />litation Loan Program and authorized its execution by Chairman <br />Ortiz, on the unaimously carried motion 6:0 of Commissioner <br />Ward, seconded by Commissioner Garthe. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />BUDGETS FOR SECTION 8 <br />EXISTING AND NEW <br />CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />As recommended in the <br />report dated June 16, <br />1978, prepared by Edward <br />L. Flores, the Authority <br />approved the budget for <br />Section 8 Housing <br />Assistance Payments Program for existing housing for fiscal <br />year 1978-79, in the amount of $1,167,430 and for new construction <br />under the same program, in the amount of $779,160, on the <br />unanimously carried 6:0 motion of Commissioner Ward, seconded <br />by Commissioner Garthe. Mr. Rede stated that existing housing <br />pertains to the Authority's leased housing operation and new <br />construction pertains to the senior citizen's housing program; <br />that both programs are Federally funded and do not involve the <br />use of City general fund money and no staff increase is contem- <br />plated for the operations of the programs. <br /> <br />Responding to an inquiry from Councilman Bricken, Mr. Rede <br />stated that there are nine employees in the Housing Authority; <br />that two are supported from Administrative funds from the senior <br />housing project and seven from the leased housing program; and <br />that the department is also supported by CETA personnel. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ward commented that the housing program is losing <br />good personnel and that staff should review this area to see <br />what can be done to keep good employees. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT At 5:30 P.M., the <br />meeting was adjourned <br />on the unanimous carried motion 6:0 of Commissioner Bricken, <br />seconded by Commissioner Yamamoto. <br /> <br /> <br />.-z:~.~.
