RECESS At 5:05 P.M. Mayor <br /> Garthe recessed the <br /> meeting for dinner; <br /> the meeting was <br />reconvened at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Garthe, Councilmen <br />Brandt, Yamamoto and Bricken present. Councilmen Evans, <br />Ortiz and Ward were absent. Supervisor Diedrich joined <br />the Council at dinner at the Hungry Tiger. <br /> <br />INVOCATION <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />gave the Invocation. <br /> <br />Following the Pledge <br />of Allegiance to the <br />Flag, Pastor Gil Allen <br />of Calvary Chapel <br /> CA 80.17 <br /> <br />SPECIAL PRESENTATION Mr. George Watts, <br />"HUMAN CONCERN AWARD" TO Executive Director <br />FIRE PREVENTION BUREAU of Western Insurance <br /> Information Service, <br />representing seventy-five property casualty insurance <br />companies, stated that a good portion of their public <br />information department is devoted to loss prevention; that <br />the loss figures determine the insurance rates; that the <br />Santa Ana Fire Prevention Bureau was chosen to receive : . <br />one of the four "Human Concern Awards" given in the eleven <br />western states. Fire Chief B. J. Thompson and Fire Marshal <br />Angelo Minchella, and members of the Bureau, were present <br />to receive the award. CA 73A <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION PRESENTATION A proclamation designat~ <br />"SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TEEN lng the week of <br />CHALLENGE WEEK" November 14 through <br /> November 21 as "Southern <br />California Teen Challenge Week" was presented to Pam Hales <br />of the Teen Challenge organization. Mayor Garthe thanked <br />the Teen Challenge organization for its continuing service <br />to Santa Ana. CA 46 <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION PRESENTATION Police Chief Raymond <br />"HONORING GOODYEAR Davis announced that <br />TIRE & RUBBER" the City's COP <br /> (Community Oriented <br />Policing) program is making great strides in reducing crime; <br />that Santa Ana is number two in reduction of crime in the <br />nation, and number one in the state; that the program re- <br />volves around citizen awareness and citizen involvement; and <br />that the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company volunteered adver- <br />tising time on the Goodyear blimp to get that message to <br />the people. <br /> <br />In recognition of the valued community services extended to <br />the City of Santa Ana, Mayor Garthe issued a proclamation <br />honoring Goodyear and presented a City tile to P. F. "Doc" <br />Pingree and Mr. Nick Nicolary, Chief Pilot of the Airship <br />"Columbia". Mr. Pingree is Public Relations Manager of <br />Goodyear.
