Mickey Madden, representing a citizens group, stated that she <br />was disappointed that there was no status report on the matter. <br /> <br />Charles Clayman, 116 North Sycamore, stated that he lives near <br />the present bus terminal; that there is a very undesirable <br />element around the bus terminal; and he requested that the City <br />install "No Loitering" signs, and have the police enforce it. <br /> <br />City Attorney Keith Gow stated further that the 17th Street <br />location will not be used for the terminal location; that the <br />present plans are to continue operating at the old location <br />downtown; and that the terms of the settlement with Greyhound <br />are not yet finalized. <br /> <br />Richard Goblirsch, Executive Director of Redevelopment, stated <br />that negotiations were still in progress with Greyhound and <br />with Texaco, who owns the 17th Street site; that Greyhound had <br />obtained some bids for correcting the deficiencies in the <br />existing building - it will amount to approximately $50,000. <br /> CA 84 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Silvio Sanchez, 704 <br />RELOCATION PAYMENTS West Third, stated <br />REDEVELOPMENT PROJECTS - REFERRED that some of the per- <br /> sons to be relocated <br />from the housing redevelopment site, between Firsfi and Third <br />Streets, from Ross Street to Van Ness Avenue, were still <br />having difficulty getting listings of housing available at <br />the on-site office. He requested Council to direct the City <br />Manager to make lists available each Friday, so that every <br />family in the area can be relocated by February 28, <br /> <br />Agustin Loustaunau, 219 North Garnsey Street, stated that <br />Urban Projects, Relocation Consultants, is not doing its job; <br />that its on-site office is only open two days a week, and <br />that the personnel do not have listings of available housing <br />to facilitate relocation. <br /> <br />Redevelopment Executive Director Richard Goblirsch stated that <br />during the week of January 28 through February 4, the Agency <br />Staff and the Community Services Staff provided transportation <br />for nine families to look at homes, and they were shown an <br />average of four to five units per family; that Tom Silva, <br />Coordinator, provided emergency fund assistance to four fami- <br />lies, assisted in providing a Health Department employee to <br />help with a health problem, assisted families to submit food <br />stamp applications; and assisted in the preparation of income <br />tax forms; that the City has to pay $20 per listing to a private <br />firm with the understanding that copies may not be made for <br />individual distribution; that the City is developing its own <br />listing; that relocation payments are available for moving <br />expenses at the time of the move; and that it is difficult to <br />work out individual problems at 10:00 P.M. at a City Council <br />meeting. <br /> <br />In response to Councilman Bricken's question, Mr. Sanchez stated <br />that he had not submitted his list of problems to the Staff for <br />solution. Councilman Bricken stated that these difficulties <br />should more properly be presented to Staff first for an equit- <br />able solution. <br /> <br />City Manager Bruce Spragg stated that Staff is required to <br />assist people to be relocated, and that Staff intends to do <br />so without pressure; that each person will get everything to <br />which he is legally entitled. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 58 FEBRUARY 7, 1977 <br /> <br /> <br />
