RESOLUTION 77-44 A RESOLUTION OF THE <br />ELECTION RESULTS CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />ADOPTED CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> STATING AND DECLARING <br />THE RESULTS OF THE CANVASS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION~ <br />HELD IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA ON APRIL 5, 1977, <br />was read by title only, and full reading waived, on the <br />unanimously approved 7:0 motion of Councilman Evans, seconded <br />by Councilman Brandt. The resolution was adopted on the <br />unanimously approved 7:0 motion of Councilman Ortiz, seconded <br />by Councilman Bricken. CA 68 <br /> <br />INSTALLATION OF NEWLY <br />ELECTED COUNCILMEN <br /> <br />to Councilmen Bricken, Ward, Garthe <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />SINE DIE <br /> <br />side during the initial proceedings <br />the Council. <br /> <br /> The Clerk of the Council <br /> administered the Oath <br /> of Office, and presented <br /> Certificates of Election <br />and Ortiz. CA 80 <br /> <br /> The Mayor announced <br /> adjournment sine die <br /> and requested the Clerk <br />of the Council to pre- <br />for the reorganization of <br /> <br />REORGANIZATION OF The Clerk of the Council <br />COUNCIL called for nominations <br /> for Mayor, Councilman <br /> Vernon S. Evans was <br />nominated for the office of Mayor by Councilman Brandt, seconded <br />by Councilman Ortiz. There were no further nominations, and <br />they were closed on motion of Councilman Bricken, seconded by <br />Councilman Ward. <br /> <br />Councilman Vernon S. Evans was elected Mayor by unanimous ballot. <br /> CA 80 <br /> <br />The Clerk returned the Chair to Mayor Evans. <br /> <br />REFLECTIONS BY In response to Mayor <br />FORMER MAYOR GARTHE Evans' invitation, <br /> Councilman Garthe <br /> commented that in his <br />opinion the Mayor's Prayer Breakfasts for the last two years <br />were outstanding, and he thanked the Citizens Committees. He <br />also stated that the Citizens Award Banquet was a very positive <br />community achievement, and he recommended that it be held on a <br />regular basis. He gratefully acknowledged the staff support <br />he had received, and paid tribute to his reelection campaign <br />committee for their strong support and hard work while express- <br />ing disappointment at the low voter turnout on election day. <br />He paid a special tribute to Director of Finance Larry Shaffer <br />for his acknowledged expertise and competence as a department <br />head, and for his amiable personality. Finally, the former <br />Mayor thanked the City Council for their support during his <br />term of office. <br /> <br />ELECTION OF VICE MAYOR <br /> <br />Mayor Evans called <br />for nominations for <br />Vice Mayor. <br /> <br />Councilman James E.
