WIDENING OF ROSS STREET, <br />FIRST TO THIRD - <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT NO. <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />account for widening of Ross <br /> <br /> Appropriation Adjustment <br /> No. 3 transferring $100,000 <br />3 from the Santa Ana <br /> Redevelopment Agency to the <br /> Select Street Construction <br />Street from First Street to Third <br /> <br />Street, was approved on the motion of Councilman Garthe, seconded <br />by Councilman Brandt, carried 6:0 unanimously. Public Works <br />Director, John Stevens, in his July 12, 1978, report to Council <br />stated that it is anticipated that construction can start in the <br />latter part of September with project completion by the first of <br />November. CA 65.3 <br /> <br />Mayor Evans joined the meeting at 5:45 P.M. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION City Manager, Bruce Spragg, <br />ORIENTAL COCKROACH INFESTATION announced that the Council, <br />STAFF DIRECTED TO CONTINUE ITS at a previous meeting, had <br />REGULAR ACTIVITIES requested that Staff write <br /> to the Orange County Vector <br />Control District for assistance with the Oriental Cockroach <br />infestation in south central Santa Aha; that the District had <br />responded that it had no funds with which to offer assistance; <br />that residents of the area had met with Supervisor Philip Anthony <br />and that in subsequent meetings held with Public Works Director, <br />John Stevens, staff had developed a three point plan to help <br />exterminate the pests in the neighborhood: The Public Works <br />Department could inspect the water meter boxes and replace those <br />that are cracked and provide sand for the residents to fill the <br />boxes. <br /> <br />After a short discussion of the report written by John Stevens, <br />dated July 25, 1978, it was received and filed and the Public <br />Works Staff was instructed to continue with its regular activities, <br />on the motion of Councilman Bricken, seconded by Councilman Brandt, <br />carried 7:0 unanimously. CA 54 <br /> <br />RECESS At 6:07 P.M., the meeting <br /> was recessed and reconvened <br /> at 6:10 P.M.; the meeting <br /> was immediately recessed <br />for the Housing Authority Meeting and for the Community Redevelop- <br />ment A~encv Meeting: at 7:00 P.M. the meetin~ was reconvened and <br />immediately recessed for an Executive Session to discuss legal <br />and personnel matters; at 7:28 P.M. the meeting was recenvened. <br /> <br />LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT On the recommendation of <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA VS. SAFECO City Attorney, Keith Gow, <br />AUTHORIZED and on the motion of <br /> Councilman Yamamoto, <br />seconded by Councilman Brandt, and carried unanimously 7:0, the <br />City Attorney was authorized to settle with R. L. Kautz and <br />Company, a defendant in the case of City of Santa Aha vs. Safeco <br />Insurance Company for the sum of $13,000.
