ORAL COMv~JNICATION Councilman Markel urged Council COUNCILMAN MARKEL members to make recommendations for appointments to vacancies on Boards and Commissions in accordance with the Council's revised policy. Vice Mayor Bricken reinforced Councilman Markel's remarks, stating that each Councilman where he has a responsibility to bring forward names as nominees should do so by the next meeting, if possible, and should be sure each nominee completes and files in the Clerk's office an Application for Service to the City. CA 80.9 REQUEST FOR RECONSIDERATION Following a request for recon- HIRING FREEZE EXEMPTION sideration by the Assistant DRAFTSMAN - PLANNING - APPROVED Planner, wherein he clarified the necessity for filling the Draftsman position in the Planning Department, MOTION waS made by Griset, seconded by Serrato, to reconsider Council's earlier action. AYES: NOES: ABstsvr: BRICKEN, GRIST, LUXt~qBO~GER, SERRA~ MARKEL, YAMAMO~ WARD CA 5O Mayor Ward rejoined the meeting at 9:30 p.m. ORAL COMVFU]qlCATION Councilman Bricken restated a COUNCILMAN BRICKEN request for Co~mcil support for REFERRED TO STAFF providing parking for the City's Amtrak Station. He stated that there is imminent threat of losing the station to Anaheim, that City has not indicated a willingness to keep the station by seeking solutions to parking problems. MOTION was made by Ward, seconded by Luxembourger, to endorse the idea of proceeding with development and planning for improved parking at the Amtrak Station. The City Manager stated that the estimated cost to the City of validating parking tickets would be $500 per month. Mayor Ward suggested the possibility of including return envelopes with water bills.
