The Mayor polled Council for any objections or <br />conments, <br /> <br />ORAL COM~ICATION The MOTION by Markel to preserve <br />COUNCILMAN MARKEL the historical building on the <br />HISTORICAL BUILDING - MAIN STREET northwest corner of the intersec- <br /> tion of Santa Aha Boulevard and <br />North Main Street (Santa Ana Hotel), was not seconded. <br /> <br />Co~mcilman ~rkel stated that too few people in the City of Santa Ana know <br />of some of the historical spots that exist in the City; that it is unfortun- <br />ate that Redevelopment is encouraging sale of the property between Fifth <br />and Sixth Streets on North Main; that this building was built in the 1890's <br />and housed the third 'City Council of the City, which made the determination <br />to relocate the City Hall at the Third and Main Streets site. CA 85.1D <br /> <br />RECESS - EXECUTIVE SESSION The Mayor declared a recess to <br />RECESS - DINNER Executive Session at 4:50 p.m. <br />RECONVENED for discussion of personnel <br /> matters. Council reconvened <br />at 5:50 p.m. and immediately recessed to dinner at the Hungry Tiger restaurant <br />with the Board of Recreation and Parks members. At 7:45 p.m. Council recon- <br />vened in the Council Chambers with all Council members present. <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />INVOCATION <br /> <br />Following the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag, the Invocation was <br />given by Councilman Yamamoto. <br /> <br />APPRECIATION FOR HOUSING Bob Clayton, Redevelopment <br />ASSISTANCE - LOGAN AREA Housing Rehabilitation Specialist, <br />SERGIO RUIZ introduced Sergio Ruiz, first <br /> of the Logan Area applicants <br />for participation in the housing replacement program. Mr. Ruiz thanked <br />Council for mmking the program possible and providing the opportunity for <br />replacement of housing for residents of the Logan Area. CA 78.6 <br /> <br />OATHS OF OFFICE Vice Mayor Bricken announced <br />PLANNING CO~ISSIONMENBERS the appointment of Rita M. <br />COP. PIN & BARTELT Corpin and Wallace Bartelt to <br /> serve on the Planning Commis- <br />sion. The Oaths of Office were administered to the new appointees by <br />the Deputy Clerk of the Council. CA80.9 <br /> <br />COb~JNITY SPOTLIGHT Paul Quinn and Dave Wellfare, <br />JAYCEES CLUB OF SANTA ANA Jaycees Club of Santa Ana, <br />PRESENTATION OF PLAQUE reported on the activities <br /> of the Club, fund raising <br />activities, use of the funds that are circulated back to the cormnunity <br />through scholarships, special projects, including donation of animal <br />identification signs to the Santa Aha Zoo in Prentice Park, and coopera~ <br />tion with other community organizations. Vice Mayor Bricken presented a <br />City Seal tile plaque to the Jaycees, and commended the Club for outstand- <br />ing service to the conmmmity.
