<br />The Executive Assistant presented the staff report and recommendations.
<br />
<br />The Clerk of the Council reported that three petitions in favor of mandated
<br />item pricing were received, each containing 127, 139, and 42 signatures,
<br />respectively.
<br />
<br />The following persons spoke in favor of Mandatory Item Pricing:

<br />Sherry Baum, Director, Consumer Coalition of Orange County, offered a
<br />rebuttal on the matter.
<br />
<br />There were no other speakers. The Mayor closed the public hearing.

<br />The MOTION by Griset, seconded by Serrato, to direct staff to prepare
<br />an ordinance mandating item pricing on consumer commodities FAILED on
<br />the following vote:

<br />MOTION FAILED by Bricken, seconded by Ward, to direct staff to prepare

<br />program, and affirming Santa Ana's resolve to take no action until the
<br />test is complete.
