MANDATORY ITEM PRICING <br />NO ACTION <br /> <br />The M~or announced that this <br />was the time and place for <br />the informal public hearing <br />on Mandatory Item Pricing. <br /> <br />The Executive Assistant presented the staff report and recommendations. <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council reported that three petitions in favor of mandated <br />item pricing were received, each containing 127, 139, and 42 signatures, <br />respectively. <br /> <br />The following persons spoke in favor of Mandatory Item Pricing: <br /> <br />Shirley Earley, 9002 Rhodesia Drive, Huntington Beach <br />Jerri Tieszen, 1404 N. Tustin Avenue, Santa Ana <br />Ken Stuart, 4551 Sharon Drive, La Palma <br /> <br />The following persons spoke in opposition to Mandatory Item Pricing: <br /> <br />Jan Gray, P. O. Box 54143, Los Angeles <br />Steven Koff, 2601 Eastern Avenue, Los Angeles <br />Richard Jennings, 777 S. Harbor Boulevard, La Habra <br />Hap Holliday, 1636 W. 8th Street, Los Angeles <br /> <br />Sherry Baum, Director, Consumer Coalition of Orange County, offered a <br />rebuttal on the matter. <br /> <br />There were no other speakers. The Mayor closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />The MOTION by Griset, seconded by Serrato, to direct staff to prepare <br />an ordinance mandating item pricing on consumer commodities FAILED on <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Griset, Serrato,Yamamoto <br />Bricken, Luxembourger, Ward <br />Markel <br /> <br />MOTION FAILED by Bricken, seconded by Ward, to direct staff to prepare <br />a resolution supporting the Los Angeles City Council for its test store <br />program, and affirming Santa Ana's resolve to take no action until the <br />test is complete. <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Bricken, Luxembourger, Ward <br />Griset, Serrato, Yamamoto <br />Markel <br /> <br />The MOTION by Yamamoto, seconded by Serrato, to continue the matter to <br />September 15, 1980, FAILED on the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Griset, Serrato, Yamamoto <br />NOES: Bricken, Luxent)ourger, Ward <br />ABSENT: Markel <br /> <br />CA 65.6a <br /> <br />No further action was taken on the matter. <br /> <br />CONDEMNATION ACTIONS - 115 N.
