ORAL COMMUNICATION - CITY MGR. <br />CODE VIOLATIONS - MCKAY IND. <br /> <br />had been referred to the City Attorney. <br /> <br />City Manager informed the Council <br />that code violations by McKay <br />Industries located at 1606 S. Main <br /> CA 10 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION Jules Kerker, 15681 Primrose <br />JULES KERKER Lane, Westminster, CA 92683, <br /> addressed Council, and suggested <br />that Oral Communications take place at the beginning of the afternoon Coun- <br />cil meetings instead of at the end, expressed concern about designation <br />of handicapped parking spaces, and also suggested that elimination of smoking <br />in public areas would result in greater productivity, which would be a <br />savings to the taxpayers. CA 18.7 <br /> <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA V. CITY OF <br />ORANGE - CASE NO. 34-83-00 - <br />TABLED UNTIL AFTER EXEC. SESSION <br /> <br />The City Manager reviewed the events <br />which had transpired relative to the <br />Continental Center Project. The <br />following persons spoke in opposition <br />to the Continental Center Project: <br /> <br />Joanne Lechner, 2337 N. Buffalo <br /> <br />Joanne Lechner requested that the item be continued to the next meeting. <br /> <br />MOTION was made by Yamamoto, seconded by Ward, to deny the proposed settle- <br />ment agreement between the Cities of Orange, Santa Ana and Reliance Develop- <br />ment dated 3/10/81. Following discussion, MOTION was made by Bricken, seconded <br />by Ward, to table the matter until after an Executive Session following the <br />dinner recess at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Bricken, Griset, Luxembourger, Markel, Serrato, Ward, Yamamoto <br />None <br />None CA 139.1 <br /> <br />DINNER RECESS <br /> <br />At 5:40 p.m. Council recessed to <br />dinner with the Planning Commission <br />at Saddleback Inn, 1660 East First <br />Street, Santa Ana. <br /> <br />The meeting was reconvened in the Council Chambers at 7:35 p.m., with the <br />same me~ers present. <br /> <br />INVOCATION <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />Following the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag, the Invocation was <br />given by Councilman Markel. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br />"SPECIAL OLYMPICS WEEK" <br /> <br />Recreation Leader, City of Santa Ana. <br />and thanked Council for its support. <br /> <br /> Councilman Bricken presented a <br /> proclamation declaring the week <br /> of March 16-20, 1981, as Special <br />Olympics Week to Joyce Lawson, <br />Ms. Lawson expressed her appreciation <br /> <br />SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS Councilman Bricken presented Cer- <br />SPECIAL OLYMPICS tificates of Appreciation to Joyce <br /> Lawson to be presented to 1981 <br /> Special Olympics Parade Committee <br />members. Madellne Evans, Area Coordinator of the Orange County Special <br />Olympics, presented a Special Olympics Plaque to the City, and extended her <br />sincere appreciation to the Council for its dedication to the Special <br />Olypmics Program. Joyce Lawson presented a Celebrity Book of Stars to the <br />City endorsing the Special Olympics and expressed thanks to Council for its <br />interest, help, and most of all, love for the mentally retarded of Orange <br />County. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />88 MARCH 16, 1981 <br /> <br /> <br />
