<br />REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL FOR <br />REPLACEMENT OF THE AVIARY NETTING <br />AT THE SANTA ANA ZOO <br /> <br />The City of Santa Ana Public Works Agency is seeking qualified Vendor/Contractor to design and install <br /> <br />replacement netting for the aviary at the Santa Ana Zoo. Vendor/Contractor shall submit a proposat for the <br /> <br />preparation of documents to design, purchase and install all necessary equipment for the installation complete <br /> <br />and in place. <br /> <br />1. PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />The Santa Ana Zoo was constructed in 1952. The Colors ofthe Amazon Aviary Exhibit was added in 1996. <br /> <br />See site map included with this Request for Proposal (RFP). <br /> <br />In 2003, the City received Roberti Z'Berg Harris Grant funds to replace the aviary netting due to deterioration. <br />The new netting will provide added security for the animals in the aviary exhibit as well as provide a durable, <br />long tasting enclosure with minimal maintenance costs. <br />2. PROJECT SCOPE <br /> <br />Assessment of Existing Conditions. <br />1. Vendor/Contractor shall examine the site and note all geometric constraints and potential modifications <br />required to affect netting installation as well as any other need specific to the system proposed. <br />2. Vendor/Contractor shall attend a pre-proposal site visit with all of his team (i.e. sub-consultants, <br />designers) in attendance. City staff from all concerned agencies will be in attendance to answer questions <br />and open up the facilities for inspection. <br />3. City will make available to Vendor/Contractor existing ptans of the facility that are relevant to the <br />proposed netting installation. <br />Proposed Removal/Installation <br />I. Existing netting shall be removed and disposed of off-site, and repairs to existing anchoring points <br />performed prior to installation of new netting. <br />2. The new netting shall consist of 5/8" diameter, 18-gauge stainless steel coil mesh with black oxide finish <br />and shall meet all local, state and federal code requirements. <br />3. All equipment and materials shall be new. Any components of installation that are damaged during <br />shipping or installation shall be replaced immediately. <br />4. Each proposai submitted shall include in their scope of work any and all structural changes required to <br />meet all current codes. All existing landscape and hardscape improvements shall be protected in place to <br />allow for the installation of the new netting. Any and all existing landscape and hardscape damaged during <br />installation shall be replaced in kind. <br />5. Work shall be performed in strict accordance with all regulations outlined in the attached "Zoo <br />Construction Regulations". <br />
