CIVIC CENTER <br />PARKING LOT <br />CONT'D TO 1/3/83 <br /> <br />MOTION was made by McGuigan, <br />seconded by Luxembourger, to <br />continue the following report <br />to January 3, 1983: <br /> <br />CIVIC CENTER PARKING LOT OPERATION. <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Acosta, Bricken, Griset, Luxembourger, Markel, McGuigan, <br />None <br />Serrato CA 77.5 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Councilmember Griset reported <br />COUNCILMEMBERS that he met with residents of <br /> the Southwest Neighborhood, <br /> and there was much interest in <br />the community in recognizing the work of Lillie King who had recently <br />passed away. By unanimous informal consent, this item was referred to <br />staff and the Facility Naming Committee for investigation and report. <br /> CA 80.9 <br /> <br />Councilmember Serrato inquired as to when construction would begin on the <br />parking lot at First Street and Broadway. Staff responded that construction <br />would begin next week. <br /> <br />Councilmember Luxembourger'expressed concern with regard to the downtown <br />parking situation, and requested updated information be provided to him <br />concerning the footbridge for the downtown parking structure. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan stated that she received a letter from Shirley Cohen, <br />which referenced inadequate parking at the Senior Center. The City <br />Manager responded that the parking lot at First and Broadway would supply <br />additional parking for the seniors. <br /> <br />Mayor Bricken announced that the Clerk of the Council had been awarded <br />Certified Municipal Clerk status by the International Institute of Municipal <br />Clerks. CA 75.1 <br /> <br />OPPOSITION TO STATE The Mayor also stated that with <br />BUDGET CUTS TO CITIES regard to the State budget <br />MAYOR AUTHORIZED discussions, he did not want the <br /> City to lose further subventions. <br />MOTION was made by Luxembourger, seconded by McGuigan, to authorize the <br />Mayor to write a letter to State legislators communicating the City's <br />opposition to balancing the State budget at the expense of the cities. <br /> <br />Motion passed on the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Acosta, Bricken, Griset, Luxembourger, Markel, McGuigan <br />None <br />Serrato <br /> <br />The Mayor reported that he received an ordinance from the City of San Diego <br />which established a small business advisory board and would pass out <br />copies to the Council to determine interest in establishing such a board <br />in Santa Ana. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />426 <br /> <br />DECEMBER 20, 1982 <br /> <br /> <br />
