Staff responded that the matter would be investigated and the information <br />forwarded to Councilmember Acosta. <br /> <br />INSTALLATION OF COP Following discussion, MOTION <br />CRIME PREVEN. SIGNS was made by McGuigan, seconded <br />TABLED; REFERRED TO STAFF by Luxembourger, to approve an <br /> expenditure of up to $3,9~0.00 <br />for installation of the remaining COP crime prevention signs. <br /> <br />Following further discussion, the motion was tabled, and the matter re- <br />ferred to staff. 715 <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan stated that the contact for COP was Arla Crandall. <br /> <br />RECESS <br />RECONVENED <br /> <br />program and automated library circulation <br /> <br />At 5:01 p.m., the Council <br />adjourned to Room 147 for <br />briefings relating to the <br />neighborhood preservation <br />system. <br /> <br />NEIGHBORHOOD PRESERVATION The Director of Planning & <br />PROGRAM Development Services reported <br /> on the significant progress <br /> which had been made during <br />this year's neighborhood preservation program which concentrated on the <br />Northwest area, Washington Square, French Park, and Eastside neighborhoods. <br />He indicated the second year program will involve Santa Anita, the Northeast <br />area, the South Central, and Logan areas. He also mentioned that staff <br />was pleased by the amount of private investment which had been made in <br />the neighborhoods. <br /> <br />AUTOMATED LIBRARY The Library Director reported on the <br />CIRCULATION SYSTEM sources of funding for the automated <br /> library circulation system, and <br /> indicated the proposed system would <br />constitute a significant improvement over the 12-year old system currently <br />in use in the library. He indicated the payback period would be seven years, <br />and that the new system would permit increased public borrowing with speedier <br />check-out and a more efficient control system. He then responded to Council <br />questions. <br /> <br />RECESS <br /> <br />Fourth Street. <br /> <br />At 5:16 p.m., the Council adjourned <br />to dinner with members of the <br />Transportation Advisory Committee <br />at Steve's Restaurant, 416 West <br /> <br />The Council reconvened at 7:40 p.m. in the Council Chambers, with all members <br />present except Councilmember Griset. <br /> <br />INVOCATION <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />Following the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag, the Invocation was <br />given by Councilmember Acosta. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 26 JANUARY 17, 1983 <br /> <br /> <br />
