URS is an international engineering consulting firm with a local presence in Santa Ana since 1973 - and as a member of the local community, URS has a stake in the development and maintenance of the infrastructure of the city. As one of the largest engineering firms in the world, URS employs more than 15,000 employees worldwide, including staff in more than 300 offices nationwide. Engineering News -Record (ENR, April 2001) recently ranked URS as the #1 design firm in the U.S. and #2 in transportation design firms, based on revenue. URS is a full-service organization that offers the spectrum of services to support the needs of clients ranging from international conglomerates to our local, neighboring cities. In particular, to address the needs of the City of Santa Ana, we have the backing and resources to provide ready solutions to all the City's engineering and landscaping design needs. In southem California our workforce numbers over 600 employees, including almost 300 professional staff located in Santa Ana. Our Santa Ana office alone has the capabilities to self - perform all aspects of the anticipated engineering design services, and projects resulting from the On -Call Contract would be managed and staffed from this office, just minutes away from the Civic Center. The resources available to the City include individuals dedicated to providing the highest quality of engineering services in a responsive manner. Adherence to budget and commitment to schedule are key elements in all our engineering efforts. 1.2 Past Experience On-call or "as needed" professional engineering design services require unique capabilities. To be successful, the consultant must have local design experience to be thoroughly familiar with required design criteria and processing standards of the City. In addition, on-call services require that the consultant be easily accessible and promptly responsive to a potentially wide range of assignments that may need concurrent management and design. Simultaneous efforts with parallel schedules necessitate carefully planned management approaches. vpts Page 1
