Award a contract to Pro Tech Engineering Corporation, the lowest <br />responsible bidder, in accordance with unit bid prices in the <br />estimated amount of $544,750 for traffic management projects on <br />MacArthur Boulevard, McFadden Avenue and Westminster/17th Street and <br />interconnect conduit with the City of Costa Mesa. <br /> <br />2. Approve a Funding Analysis with a total estimated construction cost <br />of $680,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The City's Capital Improvement Program includes a number of advanced <br />traffic management projects that will allow staff to communicate with <br />traffic signals, monitor traffic volume, speed, and make adjustments as <br />necessary to traffic signal timing based on real time traffic conditions. <br />The traffic management elements include closed circuit television <br />cameras, traffic system detectors, signal upgrades, and signal <br />interconnect conduit at various locations along Westminster/17th Street, <br />Bristol Street, MacArthur Boulevard, Main Street and McFadden Avenue. <br />The project also provides direct interconnect conduit to the City of <br />Costa Mesa traffic signal system for inter-jurisdictional timing <br />coordination (Exhibit 1). <br /> <br />23A-1 <br />
