Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager <br />and Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with the Downtown <br />Santa Ana Business Council in an amount not to exceed $67,975.67 <br />for promotions and marketing efforts in the Downtown. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />On December 20, 2004, the City Council approved the 2004 Annual Report <br />and Budget for the Downtown Santa Ana Business Improvement District <br />(BID) . A portion of the approved budget included Downtown promotions <br />and marketing activities totaling $52,500.00. The City has received <br />$89,115.98 from the 2003 and 2004 Fiestas of the Americas profits. City <br />staff recommends that 100 percent of those funds be used in the Downtown <br />to enhance promotional activities. The funds available from both of <br />these sources total $141,615.98. <br /> <br />On May 19, 2005, a meeting was held with representatives from the <br />Downtown Santa Ana Business Council, La Calle Cuatro de Santa Ana <br />Association, the Fiesta Marketplace Promotions Committee, and City staff <br />to discuss the BID promotions and marketing budget. A consensus was <br />reached under which the City will contract with La Calle Cuatro de Santa <br />Ana Association and the Downtown Santa Ana Business Council to develop <br /> <br />25T -1 <br />
