City Manager Bobb noted the importance of the r~anoval of barriers around <br />the Civic Center, develotanent of a tele-conferencing center, attraction of <br />bookstores to the downtown, development of a restaurant row, retention of <br />the Hispanic influence and market, and perhaps, promotion of Santa Ana as <br />a City of Festivals. <br /> <br />Rex Lotery introduced m~nbers of the Urban Innovation ~roup. <br />Councilmembers then responded to specific questions from the group, <br />expressing their opinions as to what were the best and worst things which <br />had happened in the downtown, what benefits could be foreseen from the <br />integration of the Southeast Asian ethnic group into downtown, the <br />definition of festive retail, how the downtown might compete with malls in <br />adjacent suburban areas, how input regarding development was received frc~ <br />the cor~nunity, and the City's intentions with regard to enforc~ent of the <br />Seismic Ordinance. <br /> <br />The City Manager distributed packets containing information about the <br />City's Christmas events planned for the weekend of December 7. <br /> <br />At 5:47 p.m., the meeting was adjourned to 1:00 p.m., December 10, in the <br />City Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza. <br /> <br />~_~anice C, Guy / <br /> Clerk of the Council <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />455 <br /> <br />DECMMBER 3, 1984 <br /> <br /> <br />
