NEGATIVE DECLARATION & APPEAL APPLICATION NO. 521 - VA 85-6 - <br />SANTA ANA BOULEVARD AND BROADWAY <br /> <br />Filed by First Presbyterian Church of Santa Ana to appeal the <br />decision of the Planning Cc~anission who approved VA 85-6 to <br />waive a portion of the building height setbacks and a portion <br />of the parking requirement for a 10-story office building on the <br />A-3 Redevelot~nent site. <br /> <br />Reco~nended for approval by the Planning C~ission on May 13, 1985, <br />by the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Uno, Casteix, LaFlarmne, Spevacek <br />Miller, Godinez <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor opened the public hearing on Negative Declaration and <br />Appeal Application No. 521 - VA 85-6. <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council reported that a cc~mnunication had been <br />received frown the First Presbyterian Church authorizing withdrawal <br />of the appeal. <br /> <br />Robert Politiski, President of the First Presbyterian Church, <br />infonned Council that the coxmunication was not the original <br />but a copy and that he had conditioned its distribution relative <br />to solving the parking concerns of the First Presbyterian Church. <br />He requested a continuance of the matter to June 17, 1985. <br /> <br />James Meehan, developer of the project, citing irmninent cost <br />increases in steel for the project, requested the Council continue <br />with the public hearing. <br /> <br />David Ream, Executive Director, Economic Development, explained to <br />Council that the request of the Community Redevelo~nent Agency,. <br />that retail and c~tu,ercial development be included in the project <br />had necessitated the height and parking variances being requested <br />by the developer. <br /> <br />Vic Alleman, 2401 N. Rosewood Street, suggested to Council that <br />the City sell the adjacent Santa Ana Hotel to the First <br />Presbyterian Church to alleviate its parking needs. <br /> <br />MOTION: Continue consideration of matter to June 17, 1985. <br /> <br />The Motion died for lack of a second. <br /> <br />The Council recessed at 8:55 p.m., and reconvened at 9:05 p.m., with <br />the same m~nbers present. <br /> <br />The Mayor continued the public hearing. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 239 JUNE 3, 1985 <br /> <br /> <br />
