Adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager, Chief of Police and <br />the Fire Chief to execute a grant award agreement with the State of <br />California, Office of Homeland Security for the FY 2005 Urban Areas <br />Security Initiative and Metropolitan Medical Response System funding <br />programs in the amount of $8,441,518. <br /> <br />2. Adopt a resolution amending the FY 2005-2006 Annual Budget to add one <br />position in the Police Department funded by the 2005 Urban Areas <br />Security Initiative grant program. <br /> <br />3. Direct the City Attorney's Office to prepare and authorize the Chief <br />of Police and the Clerk of the Council to enter into reimbursement <br />agreements for equipment or services with the County of Orange, City <br />of Anaheim or any of the cities located in the designated Santa Ana <br />Urban Area. <br /> <br />4. Approve an Appropriation Adjustment recognizing the Urban Areas <br />Securi ty Ini tiati ve and Metropolitan Medical Response System grant <br />funds in the amounts of $8,220,754 and $220,764 respectively, and <br />appropriate same in the FY 2005 Urban Areas Security Initiative <br />Program Grant and FY 2005 Metropolitan Medical Response System grant <br />expenditure accounts. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The United States Department of Homeland Security, Office of Domestic <br />Preparedness has developed the Urban Areas Security Ini tiati ve funding <br />program (UASI). UASI provides funds to local emergency first responders <br />to enhance security and overall preparedness to prevent, respond, and <br />recover from acts of terrorism. The grant specifically provides funding <br />for anti-terror equipment, planning, training, exercises, and technical <br />assistance. The City of Santa Ana has been designated as an Urban Area <br />Core City for the second year and has been awarded funding from the <br />Department of Homeland Security UASI proqram in the amount of $8,220.754. <br /> <br />20C-1 <br />
