Public Services Agency Bud~et <br /> <br />The Executive Director of the Public Services Agency introduced Agency <br />personnel present, showed a slide presentation on Agency activities,and <br />discussed efforts by the Agency to contribute to, rd a clean environment, <br />increased safety, econcmic investment, better access and neighborhood <br />improvements in the City of Santa Ana. He briefly reviewed the <br />Department's operating budget of $16.9 million, noting that maintenance <br />required the greatest budget allocation from the City's General Fund. The <br />Maintenance Manager provided a brief overview of the City's street <br />sweeping program, indicating that a major increase was proposed in the <br />1985-86 budget. <br /> <br />Councilm~llbers discussed this program of the Agency budget as well as <br />attendant activities, including but not limited to, the following: <br />Citywide posting for the street sweeping program, alternate side sweeping, <br />equiument required for the program, location of parking enforcement <br />personnel for the street sweeping program in the Santa Ana Police <br />Department, the need to provide additional trash receptacles in the <br />downtown area and at each bus stop, and changes in the City's neighborhood <br />preservation program. <br /> <br />The City Manager informed the Councilmembers that the Transportation <br />Center would enter its first operating year but that it would not be a <br />profitable operation until bonds for its construction had been paid. <br /> <br />Councilmembers discussed additionally the increased cost for traffic <br />control design, the median development schedule and the upcc~ing Council <br />retreat location and schedule. <br /> <br />The City Manager noted that no growth was occurring in property tax <br />revenues in other than redevelo[~ent project areas. In response to <br />Councilm~mber Acosta's inquiry, the City Manager indicated he would <br />provide a date for the opening of the Mercado project at the July 15 <br />Council meeting. <br /> <br />At 1:48 p.m., the meeting was adjourned to 10:00 a.m., July 15, 1985, in <br />Room 831, City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza. <br /> <br />~,~a6ice C.
