<br />F. Quarterly meetings to be held with the Contractor, including personnel routinely assigned to <br />work in Santa Ana. <br /> <br />2.01.05 <br /> <br />Extraordinarv Maintenance <br /> <br />A. The failure or malfunction of the traffic signal system, including signal interconnect, <br />internally illuminated and reflectorized street name sign, may be considered as extraordinary <br />maintenance ifit is mainly caused by any of the following: <br /> <br />1. Nature causes <br />2. Civil disorder <br />3. Vehicle collision <br />4. Vandals <br />5. Excavation or resurfacing of the street <br />6. Power failures <br />7. Underground wiring damage <br /> <br />B. Any upgrading work or installation, as directed by the City, shall be 'extraordinary work. The <br />Contractor shall confirm each of City's extraordinary maintenance requests in writing, <br />accompanied with a cost estimate within three (3) working days. The Contractor shall <br />commence the work within three (3) working days and completed the work within five (5) <br />working days after the City's approval. <br /> <br />The Contractor shall notify the Traffic Engineer one working day in advance prior to <br />commence any extraordinary work. <br /> <br />C. The Contractor shall notify the Traffic Engineer or his representative in writing, including the <br />cost estimate, regarding any extraordinary maintenance work and get prior approval before <br />the work is scheduled. The Contractor shall commence the work within three (3) working <br />days and completed the work within five (5) working days after the City's approval. <br /> <br />The Contractor shall notify the Traffic Engineer 24 hours in advance prior to commence any <br />extraordinary work. <br /> <br />This sub-section shall not apply to emergency repairs. <br /> <br />D. For intersections with power outages, The Contractor shall use the following procedure: <br /> <br />1. The Contractor shall dispatch qualified personnel and equipment to reach the site within <br />30 minutes under normal circumstances. Upon arrival, The Contractor shall place <br />controller cabinet setting to flashing operation and turn off the controller until power has <br />been restored. <br /> <br />2. The Contractor shall setup temporary stop signs at all approaches upon arrival at the sites <br />if no police officer is present. The Contractor may set up more traffic warning and <br />control devices, if deemed necessary, and proceed to repair the signal. <br /> <br />3. If a police officer is at the site when the Contractor arrives, the Contractor shall quickly <br />examine the signal, evaluate the situation and discuss it with the police officer. If repair <br />will take only a few moments, the police officer may stay to continue to direct traffic <br />while the Contractor repairs the signal. If the repair will take longer than the officer can <br />wait, The Contractor shall immediately set up temporary stop signs and all other <br />necessary warning devices and relieve the police officer. <br /> <br />4 <br />
