MOTION: <br /> <br />Direct the Clerk of the Council to forward the City's <br />request for verification that the document submitted <br />to the City by the SAMSON group contains the signatures <br />of 6,288 registered voters of the City of Santa Aha to <br />the Orange County Registrar of Voters; and authorize <br />payment for verification services. <br /> <br />MOTION: Young SECOND: McGuigan <br /> <br />VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: <br /> <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Griset, Hart, Johnson, Luxembourger, <br /> McGuigan, Young <br />Acosta <br />None FILE145 <br /> <br />Councilmember Acosta stated for the record that he did not oppose the <br />issues proposed by the SAMSON group, but because of the technical <br />deficiencies of the document he preferred not to waste the taxpayer's <br />money in verifying the signatures and instead recommended that the <br />SAMSON document be submitted to the Charter Commission for its review. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare all necessary documents <br />for placing the SAMSON proposal on the June ballot in the <br />event that sufficient signatures are validated. <br /> <br />MOTION: McGuigan SECOND: Johnson <br /> <br />VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: <br /> <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Acosta, Griset, Hart, Johnson, <br />Luxembourger, McGuigan, Young <br />None <br />None FIlE 145 <br /> <br />By the unanimous informal consent of the Council, the Clerk was <br />instructed to deliver the findings of the Orange County Registrar of <br />Voters relative to the SAMSON proposal to the Charter Review <br />commission and the Council as soon as received by the City. The <br />Council agreed to meet at 8:00 p.m. on March 4, 1986 in the Council <br />Chambers in order to take the necessary actions to place the measure <br />on the ballot should sufficient signatures be validated. <br /> <br />Future Workshop <br /> <br />The Council tentatively set the date of April 5 for its next <br />workshop. Councilmember Young requested that the Council be provided <br />with updated information relative to the City's budget, particularly <br />identification of programs which would be at risk in the next fiscal <br />year.
