Improvements include re- <br />roofing, air-conditioning and electrical system upgrades, restroom <br />upgrades to meet Americans with Disability Act (ADA) requirements and <br />renovating the existing cultural arts room. This project will also <br />install a new wrought iron fence, replace the existing pavement with new <br />concrete and construct a new storage building/trash enclosure. Once <br />completed, the project will enhance recreational opportunities for <br />children in adjacent neighborhoods. <br /> <br />The Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on August 22 & 24, 2005 and bids <br />were opened on September 27, 2005. A summary of the bid invitations <br />mailed, received, and results follows. <br /> <br />Santa Ana Contractors receiving notices 11 <br />Contractors requesting bidding documents: 10 <br />Bids received: 4 <br />Bids received from Santa Ana Contractors: 1 <br /> <br />A total of four bids were received and were non-responsive. Sturgeon <br />General, Inc. (SGI) submitted an incomplete bid. SGI did not submit a <br />Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goal as required by the bidding <br />documents. Faris Construction failed to notarize the bidder's signature <br />on the bid bond as required by the bidding document and failed to meet <br />the proj ect DBE goal.
