Fire Station NO. 9 <br /> <br />Deputy City Manager Ray Davis advised the Council that Fire Station No. 9 <br />design plans had been expanded in scope, from a temporary to a permanent <br />structure which would house 15 personnel, which had increased design <br />costs. He indicated the structure should meet the meet 20-year needs of <br />the Department in that area. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan reported that approval of Fire Station No. 9 <br />concept plans was recommended by the Public Safety Committee. <br /> <br />Community Preservation Program <br /> <br />Deputy City Manager Rex Swanson reported to Council that after a review <br />of the Community Preservation Program, changes and/or developments were <br />being implemented in the following areas: complaint investigation <br />priorities; systematic patrol of residential areas; inspection activity <br />hours; liaison between Community Preservation and Community Oriented <br />Policing; policy and procedures operations manual, and formalized <br />training program. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan requested that Councilmembers be provided with a <br />list of inspectors in their respective wards. <br /> <br />Councilmember Acosta urged staff to develop a program to inform <br />non-English speakers about community standards, and the Mayor suggested <br />the subject be a presentation at a future Council Study Session. <br /> <br />Councilmembers discussed concerns relative to Consent Calendar Items. <br /> <br />At 4:19 p.m., the Council recessed and reconvened in the Council Chambers <br />at 4:23 p.m., with all members present. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />The Mayor announced that Councilmember Acosta had registered "No" votes <br />on Items 2.A. and 21.A.; that 3.A. would be removed from the Agenda for <br />discussion, and Item 9.A. would be continued to October 20, 1986. <br /> <br />MOTION: Approve staff recommendations on the following Consent Calendar <br /> items: <br /> <br /> MOTION: McGuigan SECOND: Luxembourger <br /> <br /> VOTE: AYES: Acosta, Griset, Hart, Johnson, Luxembourger, <br /> McGuigan, Young <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 378 OCTOBER 6, 1986 <br /> <br /> <br />
