<br />proof of actual service pursuant to such orders, he or <br />she will be reinstated as provided in Section 9-143 of <br />the Civil Service Rules and Regulations of the City of <br />Santa Ana. <br /> <br />B. Temporary. Members of the reserve forces of the United <br />States, or the National Guard, granted temporary leave <br />when ordered to duty, in accordance with the Military and <br />Veterans Code, will be granted leave with pay not to <br />exceed thirty (30) calendar days in each calendar year <br />after one year's service with the City upon presenting <br />satisfactory proof of orders to and from such temporary <br />active duties. <br /> <br />11.4 Jury and Witness Leave. When an on-duty employee is called <br />to serve as a juror or non-party witness in any court <br />action, he or she shall be allowed the necessary time <br />actually required for such service without loss of pay. <br />Each on-duty employee called for such service shall present <br />to his or her department head for examination the subpoena <br />calling him or her to such service and shall pay into the <br />City Treasury the fees collected for such service, with the <br />exception of reimbursement for transportation expenses, if <br />any. <br /> <br />11.5 Examination Leave. Employees participating in examinations <br />conducted during their normal working hours for positions in <br />the competitive service of the City of Santa Ana will be <br />granted leave with pay for the time actually required, <br />without loss of any accrued vacation or compensatory time <br />off benefits. <br /> <br />11.6 Unauthorized Absence. Unauthorized absence from duty for <br />any duration of time may be considered cause for dismissal. <br />Absence from duty without leave for five (5) consecutive <br />working days shall be deemed a resignation from service; <br />provided, however, if upon return to duty the person so <br />absenting himself makes an explanation satisfactory to the <br />Fire Chief of the cause of his absence, the Fire Chief may <br />restore said person to his or her position, with the City <br />Manager's approval. <br /> <br />11.7 Authorized Absence Without Pay - Short Term. Absence without <br />pay not to exceed five (5) consecutive working days, may be <br />authorized by the Fire Chief.
