NS-1888 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA REZONING <br />CERTAIN PROPERTY LOCATED AT 902-914 WEST EDINGER AVENUE FROM THE R1 <br />(SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENCE) DISTRICT TO THE SD (SPECIFIC DEVELOPMENT) <br />DISTRICT AND ADOPTING SPECIFIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN NO. 43. <br /> <br />MOTION: Acosta SECOND: Pulido <br /> <br />VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: <br /> <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Acosta, Griset, Hart, May, McGuigan, Pulido, <br />Young <br />None <br />None FILE 625.05 <br /> <br />At 8:06 p.m., the Council recessed, and reconvened at 8:21 p.m. with all <br />Councilmembers present. <br /> <br />COUNCIL AGENDA ITEMS <br /> <br />85.A. <br />(65A) <br /> <br />ORANGE COUNTY RESCUE MISSION <br /> <br />The City Attorney noted that a copy of the entire public record with <br />respect to the Orange County Rescue Mission had been previously provided <br />to the Council, and that Council might at this time reaffirm its previous <br />findings based on the record provided, make a new decision instructing <br />the City Attorney to prepare resolutions denying t~e Rescue Missions <br />applications, or hold a new noticed public hearin9 regardin9 the <br />application of the Rescue Mission for a variance and conditional use <br />permit. <br /> <br />The following persons spoke in opposition to the continuance of the <br />Orange County Rescue Mission facility at its present location: <br /> <br />Albert Gipson, president, Southwest Neighbors, 505 W. Townsend <br />Karol Vanzant, business owner, 2201 W. First Street <br />David Anvar, 2015 W. First Street <br />Alan Woo, 1313 W. Memory Lane, #602 <br /> <br />Thomas Whaling, Attorney for the Orange County Rescue Mission, spoke in <br />favor of retaining the Mission at its current site. <br /> <br />At 8:57 p.m., the Council recessed, and reconvened at 9:14 p.m. with all <br />Councilmembers present. <br /> <br />The following persons responded to Councilmember's questions: Albert <br />Gipson; Thomas Whaling; John Lands, Executive Director, Rescue Mission; <br />Mr. Goff, Attorney for Albert Gipson; and Alan Woo. <br /> <br />Councilmembers discussed at lengt~ the various alternatives with respect <br />to the Rescue Mission. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 46 FEBRUARY 2, 1987 <br /> <br /> <br />
